Jaya graduated from Lakeville North High School in 2011. In 2010 her team won a State Championship with a 32-0 record. During Jaya's Senior year they placed 3rd in state and she made All Conference. Jaya received a scholarship to play at the University of Minnesota-Crookston where she redshirted due to knee injury. She then transferred to  University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2014 where she finished playing career. During her Senior season her team went to the Division III National Tournament and made it to the round of 32. Jaya graduated with a degree in Criminology and a minor in Sociology. She spent 3 years coaching for the Burnsville Girls High School Basketball team.
